When you look in the mirror, what do you see?
Do you focus on the things you like about yourself or what you wish was different? Usually, when we look at ourselves in the mirror, we have no problem pointing out our flaws. In fact, we tend to focus on what we don’t like about ourselves more than what we do like.
Most of us wouldn’t dare to leave our house without first looking at our reflection, making sure everything was in its proper place. However, there is another mirror we need to be looking into more than the one hanging over our bathroom sinks. A mirror that has the power to show us who we really are and what we need to work on.
This mirror is the Word of God.
We are told in the book of James that we are “to be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving ourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”
We don’t need to look at celebrities, magazines, gurus, or Instagram to learn how to become more beautiful and age gracefully. We only need to look to the Word of God.
Contrary to what this world would have us believe, our beauty doesn’t fade; it is incorruptible. Real and lasting beauty doesn’t stem from the way we look; it comes from who we are as a person: “a godly woman is known for the beauty that comes from within. The unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God” (1 Peter 3:3-4).
This is why I created the Becoming More Beautiful In Christ Workbook:
This gorgeously designed and curated 30 PLUS page workbook (exclusively for my subscribers) explores what Christ finds beautiful and how we can maintain this beauty throughout our lives. It is filled with worksheets, resources, and encouragement that will help you become more beautiful in your style, friendships, the words you speak, and in your walk with the Lord. I chose to highlight these four aspects of life because they all have a significant impact on who we are as women and the beauty of our inner person.
